Wizard of Oz’s Dress, Which Went Missing 4 Decades Ago, Was Finally Discovered
One of the legendary blue dresses, which Judy Garland wore in The Wizard of Oz film, was finally discovered last month. The dress disappeared more than forty years ago.
The dress was given to Catholic University in the 1970s. However, it mysteriously went missing a year after arriving at the campus.
In June, one of the employees decided to discover the cinematic history and found the item in a strange location. The worker was looking at archives in a storeroom and noticed a bag with garbage. He got curious and asked his colleague to give it to him. When he opened the trash bag he saw a shoebox and inside there was a dress.
After, the researchers said that five other versions of the costume besides this one had been found and recognized. Now, the dress will be kept in the university’s special department along with other collections.
The dress is not the only Dorothy’s piece that was missing. In 2005, her shoes were also stolen from the museum in Minnesota, where the actress was born and raised. Ten years later, the FBI was brought into the case and finally caught a thief. The pair of shoes was returned after the recovery operation.
