The Road to Fame and a Love Story: Disney Will Shoot a TV Series About Karl Lagerfeld
Streaming service Disney + has announced a six-part drama series that got the title Kaiser Karl, and the main character will be the legendary Karl Lagerfeld. The story will be based on the biographical book of the same name written by Raphael Bakke. It is known that the producer of the popular French TV series Lupine is engaged in the project, but the cast and release date have not yet been announced.
The action will begin in the summer of 1972 and will tell about Lagerfeld’s aspiration to once become the follower of Coco Chanel, the fight with Pierre Berger (one of the founders of the Yves Saint Laurent), as well as about the love story of the great designer and Jacques de Bascher. In 1989, de Bascher died of AIDS.
Six episodes are scheduled which will be filming in France. It is not yet known who will play the fashion king.
The fashion designer and photographer from Germany died in February 2019 when he was 85 years old. Kaiser Karl will be the first drama series based on his biography- previously only documentaries were shot about him.
Karl was born in 1933 in Hamburg. Until his death, he was the permanent chief couturier of Fendi and Chanel.
