The Fashion House Chanel Has Introduced a Limit on the Purchase of Its Bags
Chanel has set a limit on the purchase of the most popular models of its bags- Classic Flap Bag which costs 7,800 dollars and Coco Handle for 5,000 dollars. Now the buyer will be able to buy only one bag of these models per year.
In addition, the fashion house has imposed restrictions on the purchase of wallets, clutches, and belt bags. Customers are allowed to purchase no more than two of the same product from this category per year.
The introduction of limits on the purchase of bags and accessories is associated with the desire of the french house to increase its exclusivity. Thus, Chanel is fighting against dealers who export luxury goods to their countries and sell them several times more expensive.
Resale of luxury items is on the rise thanks to the pandemic and the growing purchasing power of the younger Gen Z. In this regard, Chanel and other luxury brands are trying to fight resellers who buy fashion goods in Europe in order to resell them at several times more expensive in their home country. Chanel has raised prices for its popular products three times this year, but the demand for them is still not decreasing.
You can also buy a bag from the Hermes fashion house only in limited quantities: one person can buy one model twice a year. The brand’s iconic Birkin and Kelly models are ordered through a waiting list and received at least six months later.
