Prada Held Double Shows in Milan and Shanghai To Present a New Collection
The main debut of the Milan Fashion Week was the fashion show held by Raf Simons and Miuccia Prada. Previously, their several collections can be seen in digital format only, and now their first live show arrived. The event took place in Milan and Shanghai at the same time.
The Prada Spring / Summer 2022 show is the first opportunity to see the joint work of the designers live on the catwalk. Their collaboration began immediately after the pandemic hit the world, and throughout this time they only released videos. And eighteen months later, as the world began to return to normal, the brand held two simultaneous shows.
Before the start of the action in Milan, the skyscrapers were projected live on the large LED screens. They were installed around the catwalk, from which live viewers, separated by six time zones, could watch models marching around the world in the same outfit at the same time.
The catwalk opened with a bold leather outfit- simple blazers with high chest pockets, rock star bombers, biker jackets, and spy trench coats. Such iconic items of women’s clothing as a bra or corset were reinterpreted on plain sweaters or in detail on jackets. Satin dresses looked almost modest until it became clear that they had a deep neckline on the back that exposed the body and showed a little underwear.
The combination of hard and soft, distressed leather jackets and tiny ducal satin miniskirts was definitely the highlight of the collection. Low-heeled sandals also were a smart decision. In addition, the guests saw ribbed knit tops, minis in black leather, and silk blouses.
On the show, the items were worn with sweaters, sleeveless tops, and lace-up cardigans instead of buttons. There were dresses unbuttoned and open at the back, as well as brutal jackets and raincoats made of faux-frayed leather that looked vintage. Leather bracelets on the shoulder and low-heeled sandals were also presented.
