Michael Kors and Adam Mosseri Praised the Met’s American Fashion Exhibition

Michael Kors together with Adam Mosseri, Instagram’s head, visited the Met’s American Fashion Exhibition. The event celebrates The Costume Institute’s 75th anniversary which the designers liked very much.

The exhibition focuses on emerging creatives where young talented designers contributed more than 70 percent of the works to the Met’s gallery.

Walking through the halls, you will discover more than 104 definitions of American fashion- each exhibit expresses its own meanings and emotions. This is the first part of the exhibition, and the second, titled In America: An Anthology of Fashion, will open in May 2022.

The curator Andrew Bolton has recreated a veritable encyclopedia of American emotion in the galleries of The Costume Institute. The fact that the exhibition opened immediately after New York Fashion Week made the exhibition even more lively. Bolton’s focus on young and emerging designers and mainly on the collections of the past seven years has also contributed to this. The items presented here are still fresh in the minds of visitors: Bella Hadid’s white outfit from the Off-White and Arc’teryx collaboration of 2020, Vittoria Ceretti’s black dress from the Tom Ford Spring-Summer 2018 collection, or Ariel Nicholson’s poncho. Bolton notes that exposure may change in the process. After all, American fashion is dynamic.

In one of the halls, Bolton put up four jumpers with the national flag. The first two- Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren that represent optimism, and the second is the flag upside down on the Willy Chavarria sweater and the Denim Tears version represents an African American flag.
