Larissa Leon From Huston Designed a Dress From Duct Tape and Won 10,000 Dollars
Popular brand Duck encouraged teenagers to create individual prom clothing using the brand’s duct and crafting tape. And then, a group of judges will select the main winner of the Stuck At Prom competition who will get a scholarship.
The competition has been held annually since 2012. And this year, a 17-year-old Larissa Leon from Huston received a prize in the amount of 10,000 dollars in the dress category. Larissa, who currently lives in Washington, spent 163 hours of work to create the masterpiece, inspired by the folk style. The colorful dress which combines American and Spanish traditions was designed with ruffles and open shoulders. The girl used duct tape and decorated it with flower details in order to honor her culture and pay tribute to her roots.
Her family and friends couldn’t imagine that a beautiful prom dress can be made of duct tape. Larisa also decided to add a few accessories to her stunning outfit. She managed to design shoes, along with earrings and even a purse by which she completed the look.
