Jonathan Anderson’s New Loewe Collection Is an Experiment in the Fashion World
On October 1, at the Garde Républicaine, the historic center of Paris, the Loewe spring-summer 2022 show was held. Especially for the show, the famous agency La Mode en Images built a three-meter height podium, to which models climbed the stairs to the track While My Heart Is Still Beating British, performed by British duo Not Waving & Romance. 33 girls were demonstrating 53 looks created by Jonathan Anderson: asymmetric denim skirts with satin ruffles, pastel tops, dresses, and one white bandage.
All of the collection looked quite fascinating but was slightly different from what was expected of Anderson. Before the show, on social networks, Loewe’s teasers appeared in the form of funny videos.
For example, on some, the model is crushing an egg with a chicken leg, a 3D bar of purple soap is rising out of the water, red roses reflect in mirrored cardboard and multi-colored candles, from which wax pours straight into the sky.
The main source of inspiration for the designer was the work of the Florentine artist, Jacopo Pontormo. However, on the podium, references to the artist’s works were more abstract and could be seen in colors. Therefore, if Loewe had not announced the connection of the collection with the late Renaissance, no one would have noticed this
