Jean Paul Gaultier Wrote the End on the Instagram of the Label | But Is It True?
Yesterday morning, an avatar disappeared from the official Instagram account belonging to Jean Paul Gaultier. And later, the description in the profile was changed to “End of an era”. A cryptic post was also uploaded to the account with “The End” written in bold next to the brand’s logo.
The French designer announced his retirement back in January last year. However, he promised fans that his label will remain, although there will be some changes. He also added that every season he will invite a designer to work on the collection. And Abe became the first one.
He is planning to present his temporary collection at this year’s show, which takes place in Paris in July. Therefore, it is unlikely that the phrase “The End” means that the JPG is closed for good. This is likely a controversial handover to create a buzz before the July Fashion Week event.
However, the brand hasn’t given a comment yet on whether this is just a move away from social media or the end of the label.
