Gucci Uses Eco-Material Material, Called Demetra, and Presents Three Sneaker Models
After a few years of research, Gucci presents a luxury eco-material, launching three new sneakers. The house has introduced an innovative animal-free material called Demetra. It contains over 77 percent of plant-based raw materials and consists of a blend of viscose and sustainably managed sources, such as bio-based polyurethane.
Demetra material is made in the Italian Gucci factory, using the technology to provide the products with the highest quality, as well as durability and resilience.
To introduce the new material, Gucci launched three sneaker models, which price varies from 590 to 790 euros. All three items will be available for purchase starting from June 18th. The brand plans to present another sneaker model using Demetra soon.
To celebrate its 100th anniversary year, Gucci works with Demetra to innovate the company, using traditional skills in combination with sustainable materials. The house also wants to make Demetra accessible to the fashion industry beginning from 2022, including the material in all of its collections of clothes, shoes, bags, and accessories.
