The Gap Brand Wants to Close 81 Shops in the UK and Ireland, Did the Pandemic Affect?
The retailer from the USA, Gap, is going to close all the brand’s 81 stores located in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The brand now wants to switch to the digital, as the pandemic affected the consumer’s shopping habits. Gap is also planning to do the same with its shops in Italy and France.
The apparel company has announced this news and added that it will close all of its shops gradually, between August and September. It was reported that the closure, which will also affect 19 outlet stores that the brand planned to close before due to the leases expire. The retailer is also considering doing the same with the outlets in France and Italy.
This happened because the company decided to find new and more eco-friendly ways for manufacturing. However, Gap did not share how many job positions will be influenced by such a decision. But it insists it will give support and financial help to all employees.
