Dolce & Gabbana Presented the Alta Moda Collection. The Show Took Place in the Open Air

In Venice, on Piazza San Marco, a new collection of Dolce & Gabbana’s couture line, called Alta Moda, was shown. The event gathered about 400 world-famous celebrities and other wealthy clients of the brand.

The Italian brand was the first to showcase in the famous square. Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana did their best to make the show memorable as one of the highlights of the season.

The guests and models were taken by gondola to the Servizio pier where a 20-minute performance was held, presenting a mix of works by Federico Fellini. Such celebrities as Sharon Stone, Jennifer Lopez, Kris Jenner, Kourtney Kardashian, Monica Bellucci and her daughter, Christian Bale, Vin Diesel, and many others came to see the collection.

Moreover, the majority of present guests chose outfits from Dolce & Gabbana for the event. For example, Jennifer Lopez was dressed from head to toe in the best items from the brand.

As for the Alta Moda collection itself, it was a tribute to Venice. The color palette is based on the rich colors of Venetian crockery, the blue of the lagoon, mosaics, and decorative elements of the city’s historic buildings.

The dome of the Saint Mark’s Basilica has been reimagined as huge sleeves on the bolero jacket, while Venice’s canals and gondolas, as well as famous landmarks, have been reproduced with sequins on long, flowing dresses.

Shorter dresses mimicked the shape of inverted Venetian masks, with fitted bodices and puffy skirts. They were covered with tiny glass flowers, like chandeliers that clinked softly as the models moved.

Italian classic chic

Oversized jackets served as dresses and were decorated with intricate embroidery, and the shoulders were enveloped in voluminous flowers. Atlas was used to capture the movement of water in the lagoon, and a leopard-print floor-length cloak was paired with a dazzling Venetian carnival mask to give the signature style a fresh feel.

The collection was presented on a long red catwalk, and models walked to the sounds of the Four Seasons by composer Antonio Vivaldi against the backdrop of real storm clouds and rainbows.

As a result, the collection has turned out to be really more youthful but has not lost the Italian classic chic. After 18 months of isolation caused by the pandemic, Dolce said this new collection represents the renaissance of Alta Moda. After the show, the guests went to a festive dinner, the footage of which they generously shared on their pages.
