Diesel Recreates the Oldest Denim in History Using an Ancient Technology
Diesel has recently recreated the oldest known denim in history using the technology of 300 years ago. Cropped trousers in the form of a historical reconstruction were presented at the Genova Jeans summit, which took place in Genoa.
The oldest known jeans come from the Italian city of Genoa. They were worn by local townspeople and workers around 1760-1780. By copying this fabric, Diesel used Italian handcrafted textile fibers and the same old techniques. An accurate reproduction of the brand has been confirmed by art, textile, and costume historian Marzia Cataldi Gallo.
Earlier, the American fashion brand launched a joint collection with itself. Diesel x Diesel collection is dedicated to the brand’s archives. The idea of such collaboration was to merge the brand’s past with the present. The line was accompanied by the company Fake Smiles. In the pictures, the models have hypertrophied smiles.
